Bethesda Magazine: Van Grack Joins Celebration of Sunflower Bakery Kitchen Café's New Chapter
October 19, 2026
Today, Bethesda Magazine featured Rockville's Sunflower Bakery Kitchen Café and its recent rebranding celebration, including a photograph of me participating in the ribbon-cutting alongside community leaders, Sunflower supporters, and fellow elected officials.
I was delighted to join the celebration, speak about how important Sunflower is to Rockville, and present a certificate of recognition honoring this remarkable nonprofit, which provides pastry, culinary arts, and hospitality training to young adults with learning differences, helping them develop the skills and confidence needed for meaningful employment.
The article highlighted Sunflower's continued growth, its expanded culinary training program, and its recent recognition as Nonprofit of the Year by the Greater Rockville Chamber of Commerce. It also shared the inspiring experiences of Sunflower graduates whose lives have been transformed through these opportunities.
Sunflower holds a special place in my heart, and I've been a proud supporter of its mission for years. From attending its annual gala and fundraisers to joining its Hanukkah celebrations, I've had the pleasure of seeing firsthand the extraordinary impact this organization has on its students, graduates, and families. And I love their baked goods so much that my wife and I even chose Sunflower to make our wedding cake!
I'm proud that Rockville is home to an organization doing such important work, and I look forward to continuing to support Sunflower as it expands its programs and creates new opportunities for young adults throughout our community.
