Councilmember Van Grack Participates in Rockville’s 2nd Annual Nonprofit Symposium

May 14, 2026

Earlier today, Councilmember Adam Van Grack participated in the 2nd Annual City of Rockville Nonprofit Symposium, joining nonprofit leaders, community partners, city staff, and members of the Mayor and Council for a collaborative discussion on how Rockville can better support the organizations serving residents every day.

The symposium, co-hosted by the City of Rockville and Nonprofit Montgomery, brought together nonprofit and community leaders for tabletop discussions, a featured panel, and a Q&A with the Mayor and Council focused on meeting changing community needs, identifying service gaps, sharing resources, and strengthening collaboration across Rockville.

“Nonprofits are essential partners in making Rockville a stronger, more compassionate, and more connected community,” said Councilmember Van Grack. “They support families, seniors, children, small businesses, residents in need, economic development, the arts, housing stability, public health, and so many other parts of civic life. Rockville is at its best when city government and nonprofit organizations are working together.”

Councilmember Van Grack has long supported nonprofit organizations both in public office and through his own community involvement. In addition to supporting Rockville's programs and partnerships that help nonprofits serve Rockville residents, Van Grack has served in nonprofit leadership roles, including as a Board Member of Waterkeepers Chesapeake and as Chair of the Potomac Whitewater Racing Center and the U.S. Olympic governing body for canoe and kayak sports.

As a Councilmember, Van Grack has supported efforts that directly assist nonprofit and community-serving organizations, including programs that address housing rehabilitation, public safety, youth opportunities, community services, environmental protection, and support for low- and moderate-income residents.

“Events like this symposium matter because they help us listen directly to the organizations doing the work on the ground,” Van Grack said. “They know where the needs are, where the gaps remain, and how the City can be a stronger partner. I will continue working to ensure Rockville supports the nonprofits that support our residents.”
