I strongly support Councilmember Andrew Friedson's proposal to enhance school safety across Montgomery County. Ensuring a dedicated police presence in every high school is about being proactive, building relationships, improving coordination, and making sure students and educators are protected.

This issue is deeply personal to me. During the recent school shooting at Wootton, my own son was in a barricaded classroom. No parent, student, or teacher should ever have to experience that fear.

That’s why I have long advocated for this approach and have championed having a Rockville City Police Department Officer at every high school cluster in Rockville. A consistent, trusted presence matters... not just in emergencies, but in preventing them.

I am hopeful that the County will work to support this important proposal. We cannot wait until after the next incident to act. Our students, families, and educators deserve to feel safe... every single day.
