RedGate Park Is Preserved
November 18, 2025
Last night, the Mayor and Council were tasked with a decision of whether the City should accept a $1,500,000 Land and Water Conservation Fund Grant to support improvements at RedGate Park including new trails, habitat restoration, accessibility upgrades, and other enhancements identified in the RedGate Park Master Plan. Additionally, acceptance of the Grant would protect certain parts of the Park from other uses or development. I was proud to support this proposal, and I am thrilled to convey that the Mayor and Council formally voted to accept the Grant.
RedGate Park is truly a treasure. For that reason, I wanted to thank everyone who spoke or wrote to the Mayor and Council, especially those from Friends of RedGate Park, for your advocacy in convincing the full Mayor and Council to accept this Grant. Whether a sanctuary to enjoy nature, a place to see rare birds, or an ideal location for local schools to compete in cross-country races, RedGate Park is a one-of-a-kind green space that we must protect and preserve. If you have not been to the Friends of RedGate Park website, please consider visiting them today and/or supporting their efforts: https://redgatepark.org/
Ensuring that our City and our communities have green spaces and protected natural areas like RedGate Park is extremely important. Accordingly, I will continue work to ensure that the natural beauty of our treasured green spaces are preserved and that we support RedGate Park. Thank you again to all who spoke out to support this successful result, and I hope to see you out in RedGate Park soon!
